The History

Back around 1976, a few friends moved to the North San Juan Ridge in Northern California to start their humble solar beginnings. Sam Vanderhoof, Ron Kenedi, and John Hill partnered up to sell much needed supplies to those living off grid. Through their combined effort, knowledge expertise and desire to help their neighbors, their impact on the solar field expanded until they became the go-to place to go for solar.

Revolutionizing Solar

One day, Sam walked through the door of John's kerosene business with a small solar panel and John knew, this would change his business. The men cooperated in the business endeavor, and eventually, John opened Sierra Solar in Grass Valley, CA. Many years passed, and the men continued their friendship and advancing their careers in solar. In fact, Sam became the expert consultant in this field.

15 years ago, Kristina met Sam, John and then Ron. As the three men were nearing retirement, Kristina became engrossed in helping people with their solar systems. She created an online store called YouLoveSolar.com and began selling solar products worldwide. Welcome to You Love Solar. Our team of solar experts wish to serve you in your solar energy needs. We do more than sell you the product, we want to be sure you get what you need to energize your life using the sun.

You Love Solar has supplied solar equipment to homeowners, RV and boat owners, and commercial customers for more than 30 years.

Starting in 2026, we made a strategic decision to streamline our order processing, warehousing, and fulfillment to better serve you. We’re expanding our capabilities and implementing AI-supported warehouse systems so we can deliver the best solar products at the best possible prices.

Our orders currently ship nationwide from our Sacramento-area warehouse. To provide faster, more reliable shipping at the most competitive rates, we are in the process of relocating our warehouse and expanding operations to better serve the Western, Southwestern, Central, and Eastern U.S.

During this transition, our warehouse will be under construction for approximately 3–4 weeks, and there may be temporary disruptions to order processing and shipping timelines. If you’d like an estimated ship date for your order, our sales or order processing team can provide the most current update.

This move will also allow us to keep more inventory on hand, reduce reliance on slow overseas shipping, and minimize tariff-related delays. Once the transition is complete, our goal is to have more products in stock and shipping smoothly.
