This inverter can be used for standard solar panels as well as for SunPower solar panels that need to be positively grounded.
Purchased as replacement for Older SUNPOWER positive-grounded solar systems. These inverters are transformer based and a necessary product to replace SMA SunnyBoy 3000US,SMA SunnyBoy 4000US, SMA SunnyBoy 5000US, SMA SunnyBoy 6000US, and SMA SunnyBoy 7000US positive-grounded inverters installed on older SUNPOWER solar systems that have failed in the field.
These are typically used in residential grid connected solar systems without batteries. However, backup battery systems could be added with the use of these inverters, but would need extra parts and extensive design planning to complete and upgrade for batteries.
These inverters are an excellent choice to replace multiple other brands that were used in the older SUNPOWER systems. Example, SUNPOWER had re-labeled multiple manufacturer brands to use with their solar systems, such as, SUNPOWER branded Fronius, Xantrex, SMA, PV Powered, and other brands of solar inverters.
